what is Fitness x Feel?
Fitness x Feel (FxF) is a way of connecting more deeply with the body and the mind through physical exercise. FxF is the playful exploration of physical balance and how that manifests in the mind. It is a practice that asks us to feel what muscles are working, what muscles aren’t working, where our torso and appendages are in space, and how our physical system is relating to the natural environment around it at any given moment. What is my body telling me about the shape and intensity of the exercise? What does this exercise feel like on this or that terrain? How can I express my authentic self through this exercise? In FxF sessions, we explore balance/stability, agility, power, proprioception, sensory awareness, dynamic posture, and breathwork.
This is not your regular fitness training nor is this your regular gym! FxF sessions take place entirely in Nature, so we can breathe fresh air into our lungs, soak up Nature’s healing energies, and re-learn how to interact healthfully and effectively with organic terrains. The goal of FxF is not hypertrophy or competition, although FxF will remarkably enhance your main athletic focus, be it recreational or competitive, be it powerlifting, Pilates, cycling, walking, running marathons, skipping rope, rock climbing, hip hop dance, baseball, hiking, golf, acrobatics, or many more. FxF achieves this by asking you to feel deeper into your athletic abilities and mental blocks - understanding is empowerment, physically and mentally.
TWO PROGRAM OPTIONS:
Fitness x Feel (original, fitness-focused) maximizes balance exploration and power discovery. We feel our way to our physical limits, then use sensory awareness and breathwork to build presence and feel.
Fitness x Qigong (FxQ, FxF Qigong Edition??) is a softer version of FxF that begins with a warm up of Qigong and guided meditation, explores softer physical movements including animal movements and mobility, and intersperses physical exercises with Qigong for recovery and presence. Qigong is an incredible practice for everyone of all athletic abilities and ages. See my page on Qigong background and offerings!
my approach
Our first session together is 75 minutes, giving us time to discuss your interests and challenges, perceived strengths and weaknesses, and how FxF can support you. Then we run through a stability assessment and get started with your FxF workout. You will leave with an understanding of effective exercises that you can practice anywhere.
