Tree Meditation

Here is a fun guided meditation to play with:

Inhale and exhale gently a few times as you bring your awareness to your body, to your eyes, shoulders, palms, abdomen, feet.

As you continue to breathe gently, imagine yourself as a seed.

With each inhale, imagine you’re drawing in new vibrant energy; and with each exhale, imagine your seed is slowly growing roots. With each exhale, these roots extend down through your feet into the earth and steadily break new soil. What do the roots look like? Is it one thick tap root, or are they thin and matted? What is the consistency of the soil around them?

As you breathe, imagine your young tree growing bark, branches, and leaves. What does the bark feel like? What does the air around your bark feel like? Are the branches straight, wandering, reaching upward, hanging out and down? What color and shape are your leaves or needles? Do they droop or rustle in the breeze?

Now imagine the environment your tree is creating. As you gently inhale and exhale, notice what other life begins to surround your tree. Is it a shaded or open area? Does wildlife visit or make homes there? What weather do you feel around your tree?

Take a few breaths as you enjoy being or watching this tree you’ve grown. Let the visual play out and allow the feelings to wash over and through you. No judgments, just noticing and enjoying. Ahhhhh.
